Hi, my BP6 and VP6 both are dying lately too! In my case I can see the capacitors are in trouble... much the same symptoms in as far as not booting etc.

The VP6 is running Ok right now, I took the fsb down as low as it would go and it runs, at rated fsb it will not even POST correctly.... roll on payday will order a mass of electrolytics and re-capacitor both of them... also have a friends two BP6s to do.

The duff capacitors are believed to be related to a massive problem in production where approximately 70,000,000,000 electrolytics were manufactured with the wrong electrolyte mixture.... I have maybe 100 to change on mine and friends pcs... good luck to the people changing the other 69,999,999,900!

This is not related to the EC10 issue, and in fairness to Abit this is not confined to their boards either.

I will post my observations when I have changed the capacitors, I look forward to both computers working properly again....

my crappy web page is at www.g0fvt-hamradio.dsl.pipex.com a friend will be helping me make it a bit tidier and more comprehensive soon...

bp6oldie: If you discharge the BIOS, it will be reset to the default BIOS settings. It will not downgrade the BIOS to the previous revision. You have to flash the BIOS to change its revision level.
