What's the best CPU upgrade for my BP6 for $100 or less

I like buying from newegg.com. They have a 1.0 GHz Celery, but not a 1.1. Is the 1.0 OK? Also, it seems people here are saying the new NEO/T is not compatible, I'd need to find a plain NEO, correct?

Keep in mind that I don't want to fart around with this much. I just want something cheap and stable to last me a few more months.

I like newegg too! The Celeron2/1100/128K/1.65V can still be found - I know that they are on E-Bay. Make sure NOT to get the 256K/133MHz version! For your price point this is the way to go.

Your last comment about not wanting to fart around & the earlier comment about not wanting to retire the HPT366 don't jibe well.

I could not even get my Cele2/1100+Neo370 to run at 100MHz (rated) more than a couple minutes w/o crashing until I added a Promise/Maxtor controller. Now it goes to 110MHz FSB>1.2GHz just fine.
If you don't already have a good cooler, I strongly advise you get the EverCool 715 copper+70mm fan unit at nexfan.com for $15.99. Add the $2.00 copper shim and some pure silver thermal paste & you will have a CPU running <90 degrees F.

I used a promise ultra66 controller, and a bit of help from InactiveX few weeks ago. He pointed out to me that I could modify a ultra66 into a raid fasttrak 66 card. Ive been using that since without problems.

Gabumon: You can turn an Ultra66 into a FastTrak RAID controller with a bit of soldering and a BIOS flash.

I did the procedure myself a couple of years ago and it really does work, although you'll be voiding your warranty.

I spent a measly $5 for the controller. It wasnt even new.
