Help I broke my cpu socket...

You could use metal paper clips to extend the clip.

they have HSF's that have real wide clips that latch onto both of those tabs... if you could find two you should be able to keep it down

i use the stock intel HSF's that came with my celerons

they use the middle clip

I wouldn't put my trust in that, incase the tab popped off again, but it may work well.

One solution is to glue the HSF onto the CPU using thermal epoxy, although this isn't ideal as it would put strain on the CPU's pins. If you used a light-weight HSF it may suffice.

Otherwise you could file the heatsinks you have to clear the caps that get in the way.

That looks like it might work, I see three clips in the newegg pic. And it should clear the caps, as its a 60mm heastsink. Let us know how you make out.

Go to Nexfan.com & order the CUD-725 Evercool unit. The picture is wrong - it has the WIDE clip that grabs all (3) prongs. I just used a pair of them on my MSI Dual P3 Tualatin board - $15Ea. They are pure copper anf have serious fans.
