I have also that problem. Only running Windows XP Professional SP1. You mentioned a Soundblaster Live! Value. I got that one also in PCI slot 5 and a Lucent Win modem in PCI slot 4. I took both out and the reboots stopped. Going further to test it now (installed my BP6 as workstation for the first time instead of server like it was b4)

Update: Mine seems to be related with my Lucent Win Modem (it is a Dynalink 56K modem actually but recognised as a Lucent Win Modem) in PCI slot 4. What PCI slots are you using for your Soundblaster Live! Value and your modem?

I would seriously avoid SB Lives. A very small group of people got them to work, but by and large they don't play nice with SMP boards. The only time I got mine to work in the bp6 was in slot4 using FreeBSD 4.4. It never took in Win32.

Anyway, I'd start by replacing the fried caps and other items, then worrying about the cards.

Strange... I got mine in PCI slot 4 and everything is working like a charm. The problem of rebooting is probably the DLink modem. just take it out and try it. You can always try to do some mods on the board but after you tried the cards.

I've got SBLive! cards in two of my (3) BP6 systems - a 4.1 Platinum & a 5.1value - all running WinXP Pro & using the native O/S drivers.
I do not have any problems with these cards.
I'm planning to buy a SB-Audigy for my 3rd BP6 soon too!

Intresting, we had a bad VP6 mobo @ work that just froze for no aparent reason, and it did have a few splatted caps on it, so we pitched it!
Next time I know where to ship board with these kind of problems.
Usually I thought when a board burns up, its dead, but not necessarily true?

I think we should share all the info we can about BP6 components going bad.

If it has happened to you, could you list the locations of the failed components, and what revision BP6 you have? Also, if you can identify the manufacturers of the parts that failed it would help, as it seems according to Capman that it is the parts manufacturers who are to blame, and not Abit.

Ive been with the bp6 forum a month now, and Ive read people are having problems during boot, only every second power-up works and the machine just goes on abouts its normal operations. I was reading on homies site, that usually multiple boots to make computer boot is due to faulty caps, could be what is going on to several people with thier bp6's? I have started encountering boot problems with my bp6, but not when I first recieved it. Or is it just the board adjusting to the overclocked celeron forcing the user to power it again after the first one did not work?

Ive just started to get this problem on my BP6, but very intermitantly. A friend of mine has a VP6 and is getting this problem all the time, and after checking his board we found leaking caps. The problem is locating caps of this physical size in the UK. They need to be electrolytic capacitors of no more than 10mm in diameter and 25mm or less in height. Can any one help?

Went to Farnell's and RS, there wholesalers and for such a small quantity they want 70p per cap!!!!!!! Retail price for this spec(but the wrong size) is 10p. Tried Maplins,right type wrong size.
